Putting on false eyelashes is a very simple and safe procedure that should only take you about 30 seconds once you’ve learned how to do it properly and have done it a few times.
I’ve got an awesome video here for you where a makeup artist for Ford Models demonstrates how to apply eyelashes by doing it to one of their models–the video is all of about a minute and a half long, and that’s with an intro and commentary.

So that ought to tell you how little time this really takes if you know what you’re doing.
First, I’ve got a few tips and then we’ll hit the video demonstration:
- If you’ve got lashes that are too long for you then you can just trim them a bit, but remember to cut at an angle and to make each separate lash a different length so they appear more natural. Also, always make the ones on the outside corners of your eyes the longest.
- Make sure your eyelashes are clean and don’t have any makeup on them.
- Curl your eyelashes (the real ones) with a curler that you’ve put under a blow dryer for about 5 seconds or so.
- If applying a strip, start from the outside in and use a q-tip to press the lashes into place.
Alright, here we go (oh, and if you can watch this while doing it–just pause it wherever you need to–that would probably work best):
Additional Resources and Further Reading
I just finished reading a book that I can’t recommend highly enough called Fast Beauty: 1,000 Quick Fixes by Rona Berg who is the former beauty editor for the New York Times Magazine.
There is more info in there than you could use in a year and you’ll probably be using something from it at least a few times a week, definitely worth having.
